A daily stream of life

Joint Aid Management, SA

I spent the day with Asekho who works with Joint Aid Management, an NGO that targets childhood malnutrition. The 5 staff in the East London branch feed 15,000 children from disadvantaged communities each day with a nutritious porridge. Today we delivered food supplies to 3 places across the city, meeting Mrs Matanga, a pre-school principal and her 53 gorgeous children; Larne, who works in an orphanage for 116 children and Didi who oversees a young mothers’ education programme.

At the pre-school, child health checks are carried out with each monthly visit. The pre-school is raising funds to complete a brick building to replace the metal shack that has served Mrs Matanga and her kids so well since she built it herself in 2007.

One of the sponsors of the day care centre and JAM is Calvary East London, a branch of Calvary Christian Church, established locally by Dustan and Sarah Bell from Townsville.

It’s both humbling and inspiring to see the great work that is being done by people who are so committed to make a difference in the lives of others.
